False Cardomom Ginger is a tropical plant. It likes warm and high humidity environment, but it is also cold-resistant. It prefers semi-shaded sunlight under trees. Like other Zingiberaceae plants, it has underground rhizomes that run horizontally, and the aboveground stems are upright without branches. The plants are clustered or tufted. The underground stems can be cut off and planted for vegetative reproduction.
